Hands up, it's Question Time!
Panellists from a range of businesses and industries were quizzed by Year 9 and 10 students earlier this month, with over 600 students getting the chance to hear from local employers.
Professionals from digital and technology, professional services, apprenticeship providers and higher education braved tough questions from students wanting to know more about the world of work and employability skills before considering their choices for university, further education, training, employment and apprenticeships.
This event was delivered by social enterprise Ahead Partnership as part of our 'Futures' programme, which aims to prepare students by giving them the skills and experiences required for accessing careers and being successful in the future.
Volunteers included Oliver Cavanagh from Sky, Tom Whitford-Bartle from University of Bradford, Karen Cruise from Cruise Consultancy and Adrian Bird from The Apprentice Finder.
The students started off by asking preprepared questions before being encouraged to ask their own - with an enthusiastic response from both sets of students! As a result of the panel event 94% of students said it improved their knowledge about the types of careers out there for them and 100% said they were more aware of what skills and qualifications were needed for the world of work.
