Exams - Poor Weather

The school will always operate on the basis that it will open unless overnight weather conditions are so extreme that there would be significant risk to students and staff in getting to school.

Where weather conditions have a significant effect on the numbers of staff and students that can reach school a decision not to open will be made as early as possible on the relevant morning.

Although school may not open for all students, exams may still run if the heating and toilets are working. Invigilators live locally to school and could be asked to attend to ensure exams still run.

Local media outlets (Radio Leeds, Pulse Radio) will be contacted immediately. A message will be placed on the home page of the Grange Technology College website by approximately 7:30am, advising if the school is closed but exams are continuing, and if parents have given us mobile numbers, we will send a text message.

Once again the school would like to emphasise that it will, at all times, act in the best interests of your child and will ensure their safety and welfare is at the centre of all decisions made on closure.

Please see the following information from the exam board for missed exams, due to weather.
