Charges and Remissions Policy
The Governing Body of Grange School accepts the charges and Remissions Policy of Bradford LEA and will follow the following guidelines:
All the educational provisions of the school are free or charge with the following exceptions:
- Individual tuition in playing any musical instruments.
- Ingredients and materials needed for practical subjects such as Design and Technology where parents wish the pupil to take the finished product home. If Parents do not wish to receive the finished product the school will make alternative arrangements for these products. This is to ensure that every student will have full access to the curriculum.
- Optional extras. This applies to any activity which is not part of the prescribed syllabus, or required in order to fulfil our statutory duties relating to the National Curriculum or to religious education. In this case parents may be asked to make a voluntary contribution towards the costs of the activity. It is school policy that no students will be discriminated against if parents are unable to make a contribution. However the activity may not be able to take place if there are insufficient contributions.
- Visits and Residential. Where any activity involves pupils in nights away from home a charge can be made for board and lodging. however, the LEA has a remission Policy for parents who receive Income Support or Family credit. Any costs incurred will have to be borne by the school.
- Public examinations. The school will meet the cost of entry for public examinations in line with present arrangements. Charges may be made for examination fees to students who fail to attend examinations without good reason or who retake examinations where the school does not hold scheduled classes. Full details of these arrangements are to be found in the School's Examinations Entry Policy. For sixth form, all re-sit fees are charged to the student other than in exceptional circumstances, agreed by the school.
- Study Guides. The school will provide study guides and GCSE handbooks for pupils in exchange for a returnable deposit.
