Naat & Qiraat Competition

Naat & Qiraat Competition for Haiti

A Naat and Qiraat competition was held recently to raise funds for Haiti. A Na`at (Persian: نعت) is poetry that specifically praises the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Many of the famous scholars in the earlier days of Islam wrote Naat. People who recite Naat are known as Naat-Khuwan or Sana-Khuwan.

The winners of the competition were Arfan Rasool, Romessa Siddique and Usman Akhtar. The competition was a huge success and the students taking part showed amazing talent.

It's hoped the competition will be run again for Eid-Ul-Fitr, Christmas or Eid-Ul-Adha
